The Lambda Theta Alpha Foundation’s Board of Directors governs the work of the Foundation. The Board shapes the Foundation's direction and ensures that the resources and finances in place match the Foundation's purpose to advance the community through scholarship, educational programing and humanitarian relief.
Merlix received a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the University of Florida. She later received her Master of Accountancy from the University of Notre Dame. After working at Ernst & Young, LLP for 11 years as an auditor, Merlix transitioned to the Director of Financial Report at RaceTrac Petroleum, Inc. She has an impressive and expansive leadership portfolio both in and out of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. She joined in the spring of 1998 at Chi Chapter at the University of Florida. Throughout her 20 years as a sister, Merlix has served in multiple leadership roles such as, National Director of Operations, National Executive Vice President, National Director of Finance, National Alumnae Vice President, National Expansion Committee member and National Convention Committee member. She also led the initiative of completing the sorority's first financial audit. She currently serves a National Advisor to the Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. Board of Directors. Most recently, Merlix was instrumental to reestablishing the Lambda Theta Alpha Foundation.
Denise received two Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Miami (English and Biology). She then earned a Master of Arts degree in Nonprofit Management with a specialization in Public Health from the University of Georgia where she founded the Myeloma Advocacy Coalition. After serving as Executive Director for 8 years, she earned a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Currently, she is an Epidemiologist and tenured-track Assistant Professor at the University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies where she is the Principal Investigator of the Cannabis Health and Fitness Laboratory. Aside from her professional accolades, she became a sister of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. in the spring of 2004 at Beta Sigma Chapter at the University of Miami. She has served in most levels of leadership (undergraduate chapter, alumnae chapter, area, previously acknowledged National Alumnae Executive Board/Alumnae Graduate Executive Board, national committees, and as the inaugural Director of Alumnae Affairs on the Board of Directors) within the sorority. She is a loving mother to Isabelle, a 6-year old who loves to blend dance with her goal of being a doctor one day “like her mommy.”
After working as an arts administrator in the nonprofit performing arts field for a decade, Tiffany Vega-Gibson is now a Customer Success Manager with AudienceView, the world's most comprehensive ticketing and e-commerce platform for live entertainment. She is based in New Orleans. She is the President & Founder of La Vega Management and was the General Manager of Hi-ARTS/Hip-Hop Theater Festival. She is a graduate of the National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures Leadership and Advocacy Leadership Institutes, is a member of the 2015 artEquity Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Facilitator Training cohort, is on the Steering Committee for the Latinx Theatre Commons, and is a voting member of Alternate ROOTS. Tiffany has also served as a panelist for several national grants in the arts. She is a member of Women of Color in the Arts, NALAC, and is a founding member of La Cooperativa of NYC Latinx Theatre Artists. Tiffany received a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Management and Producing from Columbia University, a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from the University of Maryland-College Park and was a Hispanic Foundation for the Arts Scholarship Recipient. She became a sister of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. in the spring of 2004 at Upsilon Chapter at the University of Maryland-College Park.
Sandra has a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy/Economics and a Master of Business Administration in Business Management. She has spent over 13 years analyzing the operational risk of companies and how business decisions affect their finances, stock performance, and public image. In 2017 she co-founded UYD Management, Inc. a media and management consulting company which focuses on training organizations on diversity and inclusion practices; she currently serves as the Chief Strategy Officer. Having been an Albert G. Oliver Scholar and a Big Brother Big Sisters’ little, she’s enjoyed giving back by volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters, presenting financial workshops to young people and serving on the corporate relations committee for ALPFA NY. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and spending quality time with her husband and family. Sandra became a sister of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. in the fall of 2013 at Alpha Epsilon Alumnae Chapter where she served as Chapter President.
Connie has worked in Marketing and Communications field for over 10 years. She earned her Bachelor's Degree at Stockton University. Currently, she works for Hiscox Insurance Company on the brand and communications team. In the Spring of 2001 she became a member of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. at Zeta Chapter at Stockton University. She has passionately served the sorority in various capacities such as National Director of Public Relations, Area Board, advisor to national board members, and participated in various committees such as the Pave The Way Foundation. Being a grateful recipient of the sorority's past hurricane relief efforts, she expresses her sincere appreciation through action. She is a loving mother to two young girls and wife to a supportive husband.
